David is a musician from Oahu, Hawaii.
Since the teenage years, David has experienced several bands and several genres. His first call to music came in the form of punk rock. Inspired by the likes of Sum 41 and Blink 182, David found like-minded wildlings in his small hometown and got his first taste playing in a band and annoying the neighbors.
The search for more intense music continued, and eventually David found himself as the frontman in a metal band. This went on for 8 years, hammering audiences with progressive death metal inspired by bands like Whitechapel and Veil Of Maya, playing in small bars like Station Bar & Downbeat Diner, to venues like The Crossroads at Hawaiian Brians and the long-gone Pipeline Cafe.
Ready to move on, David next appeared playing keyboards in a local reggae band called Backwards Shaka. From private parties and bar gigs, to huge festivals like Mayjah Rayjah, to opening for world-renowned groups like Magic! and Dirty Heads at The Republik, the band brought the highest level of energy to every gig. David cites their 2016 tour from San Diego to Las Vegas as “one of the best experiences of his life” —as well as “a whiskey-fueled rollercoaster I can barely remember”.
Somewhere in the background of this capricious career were the sparks that eventually became “David Strong”. When COVID-19 put the boot down on live shows and gatherings, the natural introvert locked himself in his room (as usual), but instead steered his efforts towards his own thoughts and ideas, giving audible form to the constant storm in his brain. The project is an attempt to describe the strange experiences of human life, with modern-pop/rock production and contagious choruses, aspiring to the sounds of Panic! At The Disco, Charlie Puth and The 1975.
David is up to approximately 480 mg of caffeine per day.
